The sewing workshop makes many useful and decorative items from colorful African kitenge and batik fabrics. The women of the sewing project use our workshop and equipment for free and are paid according to the products they have made.
The INUKA projects give women in the community of Nyashana an opportunity to use their talents, develop their skills and earn a living. The center buys all products from the women for fair and sustainable prices and sells them to customers in Tanzania and abroad. Under the name INUKA we now offer an increasing selection of textiles as well as jewelry.
Most of the jewelry that is turned out in our center, is made of recycled paper pearls mixed with local Massai beads. After the women are trained in basic crafting skills, they are sold the required material cheaply and can craft at home. The jewelries are held in mostly traditional and local colours which the women combine themselves.
